Wanted man Jason Yates is expected to choose to join either Ossett Town or Brighouse Town in the next 24 hours.
Yates, who wants to test himself at Evo Stik level, has played for both clubs in the past couple of days and has received offers from them. It can also be revealed that he is a free agent as he was released from Hemsworth Miners Welfare on Sunday.
Yates leaves the MDC Community Stadium a hero as he was captain of their greatest team, which cantered to the Toolstation NCEL Division One title last season.
Yates told Non League Yorkshire: “I want to thank all the fans for all their support over the two-and-half years I have been there.
“All the lads and the fans are more-or-less a family. I’ll especially remember last season for the rest of my life.”
Yates appeared for Brighouse in the 8-1 win over Yorkshire Amateur at the Dual Seal Stadium last night and impressed his potential future manager Paul Quinn.
“We’re very interested in him and he showed tonight what he can add to us,” Quinn said.
“It is now down to the people behind the scenes to try and get him over-the-line.
“We tried to get him 14 or 15 months ago so when I rang him this summer to ask him to consider us again, he was willing to come through.
“I was impressed with the loyalty he showed to Hemsworth last season. That is a good attribute for whichever club gets him this year.”
