Glasshoughton Welfare have sorted their goalkeeping crisis in the nick of time after getting Danny Waring tied down.

The former Goole AFC stopper, who is also the son of former Winterton Rangers manager Daz Waring, made his Welfare debut in their friendly with Seaton Dalaval on Saturday.

Waring has also turned turned out for Winterton Rangers, Bottesford Town and Brigg Town.

The news is a massive boost for Glasshoughton, who were stunned by the departure of Ben Saynor to Pontefract Collieries two weeks ago. Ironically Waring was in the Pontefract goal during the Bill Cook Memorial Trophy clash with Glasshoughton in which Saynor featured for Welfare.

Also arriving is former Ossett Town defender Brad Kilner.

Glasshoughton’s first game of the season is at Hall Road Rangers on Saturday.
