Defender Luke Danville is the new captain of Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Wayne Benn has confirmed.
Former Shaw Lane AFC skipper Danville replaces the departed Jason Yates, who was released on Sunday so he could pursue offers from Evo Stik clubs. Popular striker Billy Law remains vice-captain.
“He is the ideal candidate as he has great experience,” Benn said. “He was the natural choice. Billy is still vice-captain and they’re both people who the lads look up to.”
There is further good news as left-back Cameron Clark is staying at the MDC Community Stadium. Clark was the subject of interest from Brighouse – the club he played 35 minutes for on Tuesday night.
“The positive news is that Harry Viggars signed his contract earlier this week and that Cam has nailed his colours to the mast,” Benn added.
“The picture is far from the doom and gloom that some people would like to think it is.”
Hear more from Benn and the new Wells captain Danville later.
