Take out the first ten games of last season when Paul Marshall was still assembling his squad, and you will notice that Pickering were a very consistent side. Marshall has simply improved his team this summer with some brilliant signings like Ryan Blott from local rivals Scarborough Athletic and his old Tadcaster captain Nick Thompson.

Marshall enters his second campaign at Pickering – the club he joined last year after his seven-year stint at the helm of Tadcaster Albion came to an end. He has vast experience at NCEL level and has once won the title, when he was manager of Goole AFC in 2005.
