The young goalkeeper really is a player with potential. Last season was a write-off because of a broken leg, but a full season with Selby can be a huge year in his development.

Selby need a settled squad having used a lot of players in pre-season. There also needs to be a bit more quality.

Nigel Emery wants to help restore Selby Town back into the heart of the community again.
That’s one of his, Reuben Pearse and Mick Carmody’s main aims as they embark on their first full season in charge.
“The aims are to get in the FA Cup for next season, that’s what we’re aiming for,” Emery told Non League Yorkshire.
“If we can get any better than like top six then that’s a massive bonus.
“The club haven’t said anything. We want the best possible team we can get and we will try and win every game.
“Myself, Mick and Reuben all want the best for Selby. We are all Selby lads and we know the local players and know players from other leagues.
“The club are behind us. The town have lost interest in the club over the last ten years. Interest has dwindled and dwindled and there has been so much bad feeling because local lads have been coming down, training and playing pre-season and then getting bombed off.
“That’s over the course of ten years and some kids have tried to get in over two, three, four seasons. They leave with a bad feeling and we don’t want that.
“We want predominately local players. If we finished seventh, got in the FA Cup and got 50 more people watching because we’re using local lads then I would regard it as a success.
“We have to build from somewhere and if that’s it, then so be it because it would bring more money into the club.
“Crowds have gone up since we took over and I think that’s because we have been using local lads and we spoke about it when we took over.
“We’re also getting more advertising boards up and businesses are actually contacting us and that’s down to using local players.”
