Parkgate booked a Preliminary Round home tie with Evo Stik League side Burscough.

A lively start saw Irlam attempt to assert their authority on the game but they were thwarted at every opportunity by a determined Parkgate team. Chances were few and far between for both sides, although Mohammed Hamid was causing problems for the Irlam defence with his pace and  was a constant threat.  Despite this the half ended without a goal.

The second half  was barely a minute old when Alex Lill saw his angled shot saved by Irlam keeper Lee White.  Lill then saw a diving header go agonisingly wide. Things  changed for Alex Lill on 60 minutes when he netted from close range to give Parkgate a deserved lead. Things got even better on 66 minutes when a superb free kick from Mohammed Hamid  curled around the wall leaving  Irlam keeper Lee White stranded and Parkgate were two up.

Even a 71st minute penalty from Dean Canning for Irlam proved to be a mere consolation and Parkgate got a deserved win.

The Team
