The top side in the North West Counties Premier Division were put to the sword by Hemsworth.

It was arguably the best result in the FA Cup for the Toolstation Northern Counties East League.

Because their captain Jason Yates left during the week, some will have wrote the Wells off prior to kick off. But the Wells answered their critics in stunning fashion by twice in the opening 20 minutes.

Harry Viggars, whose contract signing was a ray of sunshine during a bleak week, made the headlines again after connecting with Nash Connolly’s free kick.

Connolly got on the scoresheet when he scored directly from a corner.

Both sides were then reduced ten men after a bit of royal rumble. Cameron Clark saw red for his part in the mass brawl and so did Runcorn’s Antony Hickey.

Runcorn were involved in further disorder later on as one of their management team was ejected from the technical areas.

Runcorn did manage to get late hope as Adam Wade’s powerful shot from just inside the area that almost burst the net.

But the Wells, who had young Rogan Green playing at centre-half with Viggars, weren’t to be denied their sensational victory.
