Guiseley 0-2 Dagenham & Redbridge
Guiseley remain pointless after three games due to a loss at home to Dagenham & Redbridge.
The away side made the perfect start when Chris Assombalonga was found in the area from a cross and the brother of Nottingham Forest striker Britt made no mistake, with his powerful header going in.
Guiseley attempted to get a hold on the game with Adam Smith firing just wide from 30 yards out, but it was the Daggers who showed their quality in possession with Fejiri Okenabirhie placing a shot just past the crossbar, as the visitors attempted to double their advantage, the half-time score did not do justice for how dominant the away side had been.
Dagenham started the second half as they finished the first, Okenabirhie had two chances in the opening minute, his opening effort was a low drive that was saved by Atkinson, his next effort was a curled effort from just inside the penalty area, which just went wide.
Dagenham though ensured they would get the three points, after Oliver Hawkins scored after being given a free header from a corner.
The hosts nearly halved the deficit late on, when substitute Adam Boyes fired a shot across the face of the goal.
What They Said
Guiseley manager Mark Bower
“I’m disappointed with the performance, we deserved to lose this one, we didn’t have many players who stood out, hopefully this is a one off.
“We have shown some positives in the first three game, we have faced three teams so far and I think all of them will be in the top five by the end of the season, so we have to just keep positive heading into the next matches that we have got to play.”
