It was a perfect start for Brighouse Town who hit the front-foot after just two minutes.
Paul Quinn’s men managed to force an own goal as Kurt Harris’ cross was turned into his own net by Reece Lyndon.
That’s not to say it was all plain sailing. Radcliffe hit the post and home goalkeeper Tom Taylor made two excellent saves. New Brighouse captain Adam Field also had to clear a header off-the-line.
The killer moment came in the second half when Fernando Moke was hauled down in the penalty area. Luke Parkin converted the spot kick.
