Tom Corner scored twice against his old club as Tadcaster outmuscled Ossett Albion to earn their historic first ever win in the Evo Stik League.

Brewers captain Jimmy Beadle also scored in the fairly straight-forward victory at the i2i Sports Stadium.

It was a disappointing night for Albion who collapsed after conceding the opener. Although Tad forward Josh Greening hit the post just four minutes in, Ossett created two or three good chances early on.

Key man Rob Bordman rattled the crossbar with an exquisite shot with the outside of his left boot. He then missed another solid opening.

The misses were costly as Tadcaster soon went in front. A disputed foul on Conor Sellars drew a free kick right outside the penalty area. The blast from the winger was kept out by goalkeeper Brett Souter and the ball ran clear. Greening powerfully drove it back into the box and Corner got a deft touch to guide it past Souter.

The goal knocked the stride out of Albion, who were now penned back in their own half.

So it was no surprise when one became two. No-one in the Albion defence reacted when Greening won a strong tackle with midfielder Rikki Paylor. The ball ran loose and Beadle pounced. He chested the ball down and sent it hurtling towards the top corner.

Ossett were still in the changing room when Tadcaster killed them off five minutes into the second half. The visitors made it far too easy for Greening to slip wing wizard Rob Youhill away down the right-side. The former Harrogate Railway winger cut inside and and sent the ball across the six-yard box to give Corner a simple tap-in.

Albion finished the game strongly, but the damage had been done.

Although Ossett Albion supporters will disagree, it was a satisfactory display from the Sheffield-based official. He could have been stronger at times.
