Rob Hunter may give his Garforth Town players the chance to totally redeem themselves in the visit of Maltby Main to the J.S White Community Stadium tonight.

The forwards were the only players to emerge with any credit from the 3-0 defeat at Hemsworth Miners Welfare – a game that was lost after just 20 minutes because of poor defending.

“The message to the players is that you have to make decisions at this level very quickly,” Hunter told Non League Yorkshire.

“Within five minutes of the game starting you have to work out who’s causing the problems and you have to deal with them quickly.

“It is about making the right decisions and for me in the first half at Hemsworth we didn’t.

“I’m not sure if I will make any changes (for Maltby) because the second half performance was very good. I think Hemsworth will finish very high and in the second half we restricted them to two or three half chances, whereas we created two or three good chances.

“Why would I change too much? For me, give the players the opportunity to go out and do what they did in the second half again.”

Russ Headley, Simon Poole and Jassim Alali are available again after missing the trip to Hemsworth.

Hunter also said his Miners need to be more ruthless in attack after failing to score in 90 minutes in their opening three fixtures.

“We haven’t had the clinicalness in front of goal,” he added.

“You look at the Chester-Le-Street, Grimsby and Hemsworth games and in total we have missed 14 or 15 good opportunities.

“I think there’s about eight one-on-ones. We have not been clinical and that has been the difference, certainly in the FA Cup and Hemsworth matches.”
