Darren Hepworth insists the door at AFC Emley is open for Iwan Heeley if his move to Glossop North End does not work out.
Right-back Heeley has joined fellow Huddersfield-based player Max Leonard, the ex-Emley attacker at the Evo Stik Division One North side.
“He’s gone and in fairness he wanted to test himself at Evo Stik Level,” Hepworth said.
“He’s been fantastic for us. I wished him all the best and while I hope it works out for him, if it doesn’t, he knows he’s welcome back at Emley.
“If he gets a chance and I hope he does, I think he is good enough to step-up.”
Hepworth has signed local lad Jason Carney as his replacement. Carney trialled at Brighouse in the summer.
