Garforth Town had to settle for a draw after failing to hold onto their early two-goal lead which Mark Simpson had given them.

The Miners drew 2-2 with Barton Town Old Boys at the J.S White Community Stadium to collect their seventh point out of a possible nine.

Nice footwork from Simpson opened the door for the first goal. The quick striker got past his marker and scored with a simple finish.

By the 12th minute, Simpson had added the second after a Garforth counter-attack.

Barton hit back with two quick-fire goals midway through the second half from Jonathan O’Callaghan and Chris Fairhurst.

The equaliser came seconds after Russ Headley hit the post for Garforth.

Both sides had chances to snatch the three points late-on. Simpson was also inches away from completing his hat-trick.

Manager-less Armthorpe Welfare were beaten 4-0 by Bottesford Town.

Armthorpe lost their manager Brian Johnston on Monday and the club are now advertising for a replacement.

Welfare ideally want someone who has managed at Step Six level or above before.
