Here is the third in of a weekly series profiling players across the region. Each week, a different player will reveal their best (and worst) moments. This week it is the turn of Brighouse Town’s star goalkeeper Tom Taylor.
Name: Tom Taylor
Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 23
Current Club: Brighouse Town
Previous clubs: Garforth Town, Eccleshill United, Halifax Town, Ossett Town, Farsley Celtic
Day Job: Salesman
Best mate in football: Too many to mention. Get along with everyone!
Career Highlight: Winning the Evo Stik Division One North Young Player of the Year award for the 2014/15 season.
Lowest Moment in Football: Missing out on Promotion from the NCEL Premier Division by two points with Brighouse in my first spell with the club.
Most Memorable Match: Winning the NCEL Premier Division title away at Tadcaster with Farsley AFC. Although I didn’t play the celebrations were class!
First semi-professional manager: Simon Clifford
First Red Card (at semi-professional level): Heanor Town away for Brighouse Town in the 2012/13 season after about ten minutes in to the game. Striker got to the ball just before me, but I was last man. Glad that rule has changed now!!
First Goal (at semi-professional level): Despite being a goalkeeper, I actually scored a header playing for Brighouse Town in my first spell with the club. Not many people know this. We were losing 1-0 against Glasshoughton away and in injury time I went up for a corner and buried a header in the top bin!!
First Own Goal (at semi-professional level): N/A
What do you want to achieve in football in the future: Play at the highest level I possibly can.
Favourite Non League Ground to play at (barring your own club): Playing at Stockport County’s ground in the Doodson Cup Final for Farsley. For the level they are at now the stadium is class.
