FA Vase
Referee Michael Johnson will be embarrassed this morning after video footage shows two very poor decisions at critical moments in Garforth Town’s FA Vase 4-1 defeat at Daisy Hill.
Johnson turned down a clear penalty for a foul on Garforth striker Mitch Hamilton at 0-0, minutes before awarding Daisy Hill a ridiculous spot kick for a handball against a player who had his back to play.
It was a key moment and Garforth were always chasing the game from there. Hamilton scored a fine goal to bring them back into it, but the damage had been done.
Eccleshill United lost 2-0 at Stockton Town. Athersley Rec were beaten by the same score-line at Ashton Athletic.
Armthorpe Welfare put a late rally in the 3-2 defeat to Congleton Town with Gary Collier and Jack Bonser scoring.
Jordan Rouse’s goal appeared to be sending Thackley until Eastington Colliery scored two late goals.
Selby lost 1-0 at Irlam, while two late strikes downed Maltby Main at Widnes.
Omar Habeeb (2) and Joel Barden’s goal were in vain as Albion Sports lost 4-3 to Ashington.
Struggling Parkgate were easily beaten 4-2 at Ashton Town. Knaresborough Town lost 2-1 at home to Silsden.
