Rob Hunter has hailed Paul Hagreen after the goalkeeper turned down Evo Stik side Goole AFC to stay loyal to Garforth Town.

Hagreen, who played for Brighouse Town last season, was Garforth’s marquee summer signing and he has been one of their star performers since the start of the campaign

“I’m so chuffed that he’s agreed to stay and that it has come down to loyalty,” Hunter told Non League Yorkshire.

“I’ve made two new signings in the last week, but Paul is the biggest one.

“He was made a very good offer by Goole and I thought I had lost him. But I think because I had him at Glasshoughton and Knaresbrough and the fact I went looking for him in the summer, he said to me: ‘I owe it to you and the club to stay for the season’.

“He’s one of the top three goalkeepers in the league and I’m absolutely buzzing.”
