Parkgate 1-3 Maltby Main
Josh Schofield scored twice as Maltby Main won the local derby with rivals Parkgate.
With five changes from the side that lost to Widnes at the weekend, it was Main who had the better of the opening exchanges.
Parkgate started to control the game and took a deserved lead when Alex Lill fired home on 29 minutes. The lead was short lived as Schofield netted his first goal for Main six minutes later, with an excellent finish running onto a Nicky Darker flick on.
In the second half Main dominated and Schofield bagged his second with a 20 yard strike into the bottom corner on 66 minutes and debutant Gibril Bojang secured the points on 70 minutes after meeting a Reece Wesley header from a well worked set piece.
What They Said
Maltby Main manager Spencer Fearn
“I am delighted with the three points and our performance in the second half. Parkgate were the better side in the opening 45 minutes and we asked for a response from the lads at half-time and they delivered. It’s a good win and we now focus on a trip to top of the table Cleethorpes this Saturday. “
