Craig Elliott believes Dan Wilkinson’s parents saw the “love and affection” that everyone at Shaw Lane AFC had for their son.
Dan’s parents Gill and Barry were present as Shaw Lane paid the biggest tribute possible by beating Romulus 2-0 in Barnsley.
It concluded a traumatic week for everyone concerned. Elliott had one of the toughest jobs as he had to contact Dan’s parents after he had collapsed during the Integro League Cup.
He then went in the ambulance with Dan to Calderdale Royal Hospital.
