Lee Morris and Frickley Athletic are up and running after a dramatic victory over Stafford Rangers at Westfield Lane.

Frickley had trailed to a early George Bowerman goal and they had to wait until the final ten minutes to snatch their first victory of the season – at the ninth attempt.

The win was no more than Frickley deserved. Frickley mounted attack after attack in search of something as the second half wore on.

There was a debate about the identity of the goal-scorer for the equaliser, but no-one will really care. It came from Macauley Parkinson’s long free kick which appeared to be helped into the net on by debutant Luke Mangham. The league website says that it is Parkinson’s goal, but Mangham is claiming.

Parkinson was involved in the winner in the last minute as he spotted the run of Cameron Rigby, who stroked the ball home from close range to secure the vital win.

The Team
