Wayne Benn has outlined just how busy the physio at Hemsworth Miners Welfare has been recently.

Benn has an horrendous injury list, which contains Nash Connolly, Billy Law, Adam Wilson and Sam Jones.

Star man Connolly is going to be longest absentee as the injury sustained against Bottesford Town two weeks ago could rule him out for three months.

“We thought it wasn’t as bad as first suspected, but Nash has got a dislocated shoulder and also ankle damage,” Benn told Non League Yorkshire.

“We have had assessed by a physio who is very good and the prognosis for his shoulder is anything between eight and twelve weeks.

“We still don’t know if there’s any underlying damage with the dislocation, he has to go back to the fracture clinic. It could be longer if there is.

“I think the ankle injury will be cleared up before then.

“Billy Law has had an ankle injury since the Bottesford game and he’s been on holiday.

“He wouldn’t have been available for Tuesday anyway because his ankle has ballooned up. I think it is more of an impact injury.

“Touchwood, I’m hoping he will be available for tomorrow. Sam Jones has an ankle problem which flared up on Saturday.

“Adam Wilson has pulled his hamstring. He’s seen a physio, but he may be out for a week or two.

“We seem to get one player back from injury and then lose another one to injury at the moment.”

The injuries have coincided with a dip in form from the Wells. They lost to Bottesford and then were fortunate to beat local Glasshoughton on penalties in the FA Vase after 240 minutes over two games.

“It is key players in key areas and with a small squad, it does bite and affect you,” Benn added.

“There’s no excuses from me, injuries aren’t why we haven’t performed in the last couple of games.

“It hasn’t helped, missing important players never helps. When people are missing, it is an opportunity for other players to step in and those players stepping in haven’t done themselves justice, that’s my view.”

Hemsworth are at home to Retford United tomorrow.
