Jimmy Beadle is to take a break from football after leaving Tadcaster Albion, where he was club captain.

Beadle is a self-employed miner who starts work in the early hours of the morning recently suffered a back injury.

Coupled with the significant travel time from Scarborough, he has decided to take a break from football for the time being.

Beadle was hugely instrumental in our famous promotion of last season scoring a terrific 22 goals along the way.

“I fully understand and support Jimmy’s decision, he was one of my best ever signings, massively influential in our triumph last year,” Billy Miller said.

“His commitment and attitude have been second to none and we all wish him well for the future.”

Chairman Matt Gore said “This has really come out of the blue and quite a shock but we fully understand his situation.

“I had a long chat with Jimmy during the week and he is a true gent.

“He has been unbelievable for the club and a brilliant captain. His goals will live long in the memory and he will go down in the club’s history.

“Who knows what the future will hold and one day we may see him return.

“No doubt there will be huge interest for him to sign for clubs more local should he decide that is right.”

Beadle added: “Thanks to everyone involved with Tadcaster. It has been an unbelievable 15 months with the club and I’m so grateful for the opportunity and honoured to be captain.

“There’s an amazing spirit within the club and I’m sure it’s just going to go from strength to strength.

“It’s with great regret that I’m leaving as I’m just struggling to make the commitment the club deserves.

“I wish the club all the best for the future and hope they continue to climb the leagues.

“Thanks to Matt and Jimmy for everything they have done for me. They are two of the best blokes I have ever met and deserve all the success in the world.

“Thanks to Billy too for making me skipper.”
