Eli Hey scored another hat-trick for Campion
Campion carried on their impressive form and moved one point from the play-offs with a 5-1 trouncing of Brigg Town.
Eli Hey’s second hat-trick of the month helped the Bradford side on their way to the club’s four-goal victory.
Ben Kendall and Josh Cooke also got on the scoresheet as Campion recorded their biggest victory of the season, so far.
Brigg went close to opening the scoring in the first five minutes – but they were unable to keep their shot on target as it sliced past the post.
It took ten minutes for Campion to grow into the match but after that it didn’t take long for them to get up to full steam.
Jacob Buchanan played Josh Cooke through who then watched his shot parried away by the Brigg goalkeeper.
Moments later, Eli Hey had three shots blocked just inside the area as the visitors looked to draw first blood.
Daniel Brown managed to comfortably deal with what could have been a dangerous flick on – clearing the ball for a corner.
From the resulting corner, the ball was played short before a cross came in – Brigg were able to get the ball in the back of the net only to have their celebrations halted by the linesman calling offside.
Hey carried on his goal scoring run – beating the keeper to the ball before heading the ball into the near post to make it 1-0.
Campion had three penalty claims in quick succession all turned down – two for handball and one for a tackle on Josh Cooke.
There were better fortunes for Cooke five minutes later when he slid in at the back post to slot the ball past the keeper.
Hey made it a quick-fire double for the Bradfordians when he placed the ball in the top left corner – allowing the visitors to take a comfortable 3-0 lead into the break.
Kendall made it four for the Yorkshire men eight minutes into the second half with an acrobatic effort from a corner.
Campion’s fifth and Hey’s third of the afternoon came when the club’s top goal scorer rounded the keeper before passing the ball into an empty net.
Brigg received a penalty with 20 minutes left after a cross hit the hand of a Campion defender.
Luke Anderson converted the twelve-yard spot kick to ruin any hopes of a Campion clean sheet.
Kendall was given his marching orders later for a straight red – that seemed like a soft foul.
In the last piece of action of the match – Brigg went through forcing a great Danny Armitage save to keep Campion’s four-goal lead.
The win was the Bradford Side’s fourth win out of the last five – putting them four points behind top spot.
