Glasshoughton Welfare are raising money for local boy Alex Craven
Glasshoughton Welfare are taking part in November to raise money for the Alex Craven Fund.
Welfare’s first team squad and management, along with commercial manager Garry Willis are growing facial hair over the course of the next month.
Everyone taking part has already donated £10 and anyone who opts out will be contributing £20.
Four-year-old Alex, who lives in Glasshoughton, was born eight weeks premature and diagnosed with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy at just nine months old. The condition means he cannot straighten his legs or place his feet flat on the floor.
His parents Sarah and Jonathan put Alex forward for selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery in America, which could enable him to live free of pain. He has been accepted for the operation in St Louis in July next year and his family have been steadily raising £60,000 to cover the costs. Over 20,000 has been raised so far.
Glasshoughton will be presenting a cheque to Alex and his family at the home game with arch rivals Pontefract Collieries on December 10th.
