Frickley Athletic kept the pace with the teams with an excellent victory at mid-table Ashton United.

Even more positively, new loan signing Kuda Muswke, from Rotherham United, netted the opener. He rose brilliantly to head home a cross from the left midway through the first half.

Ashton did hit back straightaway. A corner was initially cleared, but the ball was pinged back in and Frickley did not react – allowing an easy header for Joe Brown.

But Frickley kept plugging away and went back in front after half-time. The ball ran loose after a save and Tyler Williams reacted ad sent it into the roof of the net.

Brave Joe Thornton sealed the victory with 20 minutes remaining. The former Shaw Lane attacker went into a 50/50 situation with the goalkeeper and won. But the finish was exquisite as he was shooting from a tight angle into the empty net.
