Transformed Ossett Town missed out on unbelievably claiming top spot after drawing at Hyde United.

A victory would have taken Grant Black’s Ossett up to the summit – ahead of new leaders Glossop North End on goals difference.

It would have been the pinnacle of Black’s reign at Ossett which has been stunning to say the least.

Danny Frost, the perennial hero since Black’s appointment, scored the equaliser to secure a point at Hyde.

Ossett held a half-time lead. New signing Jason Yates continued his run of goals with the opener from Nathan Curtis’ cross on 17 minutes.

Hyde hit back with quick-fire second half goals Ayrton Bevins and Andy Bishop.

Ossett’s never-say-die attitude under Black then came to the fore as the equaliser was soon found. Frost, predatory in the six-yard-box, turned and finished to earn his side a point.
