Worsbrough Bridge 3-2 Rossington Main
Worsbrough Bridge overtook their points total from last season, courtesy of their first home win of the season.
The result certainly puts interim boss Josh Wright on course to secure the permanent manager’s position.
Worsbrough started brightly, but they soon let Rossington take control and the visitors broke the deadlock.
Rich Lavery levelled the game up close to half-time and from there on Bridge enjoyed a spell of dominance.
Mitch Wilshire and Ryan Smith wasted one-on-one chances. Joe Long missed a tap-in before redeeming himself with a wonder goal. Long latched onto the Rossington goalkeeper’s clearance 45 yards away from goal – he took the ball over the full-back’s head before volleying it into the net with his left-foot.
Smith put more distance between the sides after racing through and lobbing the goalkeeper.
Rossington pulled a goal back, but Worsbrough defended well to hold on.
What They Said
Worsbrough Bridge interim manager Josh Wright
“I was really pleased. They gave me everything last night and did so on Saturday in game where we could have been 4-1 up before Grimsby scored.
“We created a lot more chances last night though, which was great. Greg Hunter has played centre back in the last two games and has been brilliant. Ryan Smith has added that bit of quality we needed and as a squad I’m really happy. I’ve a happy dressing room and lads understand its a squad game.”
