Pickering Town’s sent out a statement of intent by ending Cleethorpes Town’s unbeaten league record.

Paul Marshall’s side were deserved 2-0 winners against a Cleethorpes team that created little.

Former Tadcaster Albion captain Nick Thompson broke the deadlock in the first half and Alex Robinson wrapped up the win on the hour mark.

Pickering have now kept 12 clean sheets and have conceded only nine goals in the league.

Pontefract Collieries scored twice in the opening two minutes in the 5-1 win at Nostell Miners Welfare.

Chris Wood struck after just 18 seconds and Chris Jackson quickly followed that up. Kane Reece (2) and Billy Mole completed the win. Antony Brown scored a late consolation for Nostell.

Worsbrough Bridge have now bettered their points total from last season, courtesy of the 3-1 win over Rossington Main at Park Road.

Goals from Rich Lavery, Joe Long and Ryan Smith put a smile on interim boss Josh Wright’s face.
