Stocksbridge Park Steels did local rivals Shaw Lane AFC a favour by beating title-chasing Spalding.

In-form Harrison Biggins pounced to score the opener with a nicely driven effort in the 28th minute from Nathaniel Crofts’ knockdown.

Spalding struggled to cope with Stocksbridge’s powerful attack and Joe Lumsden’s strength helped him set-up Adam Hinchcliffe for the second goal – as half-time neared.

Bradley Wells reduced the deficit before Non League Yorkshire’s October player of the month Lumsden scored his deserved goal after capitalising on a defensive calamity.

Chris Hamilton converted a late consolation for Spalding.
