The grandson of a member of the 1966 England World Cup winning squad has signed for Glasshoughton Welfare.

Harry Flowers, grandson of Wolves legend Ron, made his debut in Glasshoughton’s 4-3 defeat to Teversal.

He is a student at Sheffield Hallam University and has previously had a brief spell at Sheffield FC.

Darren Holmes said: “We have been chasing Harry for a couple of weeks.

“He’s a big and strong centre-back who is 6”4 and we have had injuries at centre-back as Sam Varley and Adam Walsh have been injured.

“We have struggled there so Harry’s come in and I think he has had a decent debut. We are strengthening the squad because we need to as we have some suspensions coming up.”
