Ash Flynn struck four times as AFC Emley closed in on leaders Penistone Church with the very straightforward 6-0 win over Worsbrough Bridge.
Their seventh consecutive league victory has put them two points behind local rivals Penistone, who have the benefit of a game in hand.
Emley had the game sown up in the first half. Aaron Joseph fired the first bullet with a close range finish before Flynn opened his account after breaking clear.
Flynn and captain Kieran Ryan put Emley four in front before the interval.
The chances flowed for Emley in the second half, but they weren’t as clinical. Flynn netted twice more, with one coming from the penalty spot.
Ollerton Town did Emley a favour by beating Hallam in the other Division One fixture.
In a surprise defeat at Sandygate, Hallam were beaten 3-2.
In the Premier Division, Athersley Rec lost 3-1 at leaders Cleethorpes Town.
In Tuesday night’s Cup games, Hemsworth lost 3-1 at Dunston UTS in the FA Vase, while Pickering Town beat Redcar 3-0 in the North Riding Senior Cup.
