Worsbrough Bridge interim manager Josh Wright is still waiting to hear if he will be appointed on a permanent basis, despite taking charge of nine games
Interim manager Josh Wright is demanding a vast improvement from Worsbrough Bridge.
Wright was furious with his side’s display in the 6-0 defeat to AFC Emley in midweek – his ninth game in charge since Ian Shirt resigned in mid-October.
Bridge host Dronfield Town tomorrow, weather-permitting, and Wright wants to see a positive response.
“We’re a bit Jekyll and Hyde because we have had some decent performances,” said Wright, who has yet to receive any indication if he will offered the post on a permanent basis.
“We deserved a point from the Grimsby Borough game. The Teversal game was similar to the Emley game.
“We’ve had some positive results, but Jekyll and Hyde is not going to keep us up. The players know what position we are in and they know what I want from them.
“After the rollicking they got at Emley, they know what I expect from them. They know if they don’t give me what I accept that they’ll be out of the door.
“I’m not accepting the defeatist attitude that we had against Emley, Teversal and Pontefract.
“It is onto Dronfield and I expect a reaction. I need one and it is a massive game because we need a win.”
Wright’s hat has been in the ring for the manager’s job since Shirt resigned, but with a long-term decision yet to be made, he admits his future remains uncertain.
He does believe he has a chance as he has demonstrated that he has a large contacts book – an essential item for any semi-professional manager.
“I’m still in charge until the club tell me otherwise,” he added.
“I want the job permanently, I expressed that from the moment they put me in interim charge.
“Everyone knows situation that Worsbrough are in, they haven’t got a lot of money and there’s no money for the players.
“So I have to use the contacts I have got, i.e. Richard Tracey at Ossett Albion and Chris Hilton at Stocksbridge. They’ve been great.
“I’ve proved that I have the contacts.”
Midfielder Pete Bolton made his debut in the Emley defeat and Wright has confirmed that he is on the lookout for more experienced NCEL players to add to his young squad.
