Stocksbridge are through to the first round for the second year running after pulling off a shock victory at Stalybridge.

Chris Hilton gave the promise that his Steels would go out to attack the National League North side and his side duly did and they scored twice in the opening 20 minutes. Nathaniel Crofts turned home Harrison Biggins’ cross for the opener before Matthew Reay headed the second.

Darren McKnight brought Celtic back into the replay, but Adam Hinchliffe scored a stunning 35-yard strike to restore the two goal lead for the Steels.

Andy Owens set up a nervy last 40 minutes for Stocksbridge. But goalkeeper David Reay was at his best as he saved everything that was thrown at him.

Stocksbridge are away at Nuneaton Town on Saturday.
