Evo Stik Premier Division
Frickley Athletic 4-0 Ilkeston FC
Curtly Martin-Wyatt incredibly scored a hat-trick on his debut for Frickley Athletic.
It was an explosive introduction to his new supporters in a must-win game for Frickley – a debut that must be one of the most memorable in recent memory at Westfield Lane.
Frickley now have 23 points and a good chance of survival going into the festive schedule, a fantastic achievement for Lee Morris, who has an impressive start at Frickley given that he inherited a team with zero points back in September.
Just five minutes is all it took for former Garforth striker Martin-Wyatt to open his account with a fine finish.
Ilkeston made it a little easier for Frickley when Danny Gordon was sent off after a dangerous tackle.
Frickley had to wait until midway through the second half to double their lead. That privilege fell to captain Rhys Meynell who headed home at the back-post – minutes before Martin-Wyatt got his second.
Tom Gamblen was the second Ilkeston player to be dismissed, late-on. And the win was completed fittingly by Martin-Wyatt who sealed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after his old Garforth and Leeds Met colleague Gary Stohrer was sliced up.
