Toolstation NCEL Division One
Selby Town 2-2 Brigg Town
Selby Town scored two penalties and missed another in the ill-tempered draw with Brigg Town.
Scott Jones and Liam Flanagan – the latter scoring with eight minutes to go – struck the penalties in a game that had 11 cautions, six for Brigg and five for Selby.
Although level of dissent should have been toned down, no-one could argue with the effort from both sets of players.
James Wroot placed Brigg ahead in 14 minutes after a manic scramble in the Selby 18-yard-box.
Two penalties were then correctly awarded to Selby in quick succession. Jones was fouled by Ash Andrew for the first one and the striker confidently covered the spot kick to Dan Waring’s right.
Former Glasshoughton stopper Waring then hauled Jones down moments later. The goalkeeper redeemed himself by diving to his right and saving the penalty from Jones, who had chosen the same spot as his earlier successful first kick.
Selby enjoyed most of the possession in the second half, but failed to find the killer touch.
They nearly paid the price as Brigg caught them out on the counter attack with just 13 minutes to go. Ryan Thompson added the finishing touches after a marvellous run by David Deane.
Fortunately, Calum Ward was felled within a few minutes and Flanagan confidently fired home the penalty.

Ref Rating
Jack Hall (10/10)
Some will say that Mr Hall lost the plot with the large haul of yellow cards, but more-or-less every single one was justified. He also got the big decisions right with the penalties. Not many would be brave enough to award three.
How Many Were There

You cant have been at same game because the liner .near the bench said 1st one was never a pen
And the sending off that never was as well pulled out red card then his bottle went
This is the 2nd game Mr Hall has been the official this season at Selby, the last was against worsborough in sept, after both games they was more said about the ref than the game, wether this ref has a problem with selby town fc, no one knows but him, in both games most of his decisions could be questioned, it seems when he officiates a game of football, it’s more about him than it is about the football, in this game 8 of the yellow cards could have just been given as fouls without any cautions, as for penalty awards, if he hadn’t of given them, as they were so blatant, then he shouldn’t ref another game, there could of been 2 pens for Brigg, and at least another 2 pens for Selby, this man not only lost the plot, but also lost the respect of both teams as his decision making is so unbelievable, at times when whistle was blown neither set of players knew which way the free kick wud be awarded or what it was for, or if anyone would be booked. It was surprising that both teams actually ended game with 11, but then Mr Hall loves a yellow, but not the bottle to show a red.
Well said david
