FA Trophy
Shaw Lane have unfortunately lost their appeal against their controversial expulsion from the FA Trophy.
Ducks chairman Craig Wood and secretary Dave Exley took the fight to Wembley on Tuesday, but failed to persuade the appeals panel to reinstate them into the competition.
Shaw Lane felt they had a strong case as the FA’s own members areas failed to show that Alex Byrne should have been suspended for the third qualifying round win over Nantwich Town.
In a statement, Shaw Lane said: “We are extremely disappointed that the FA Appeals Body dismissed the club’s appeal this afternoon at Wembley. The club put forward a strong case which was based on our firm belief that the club acted fairly, reasonably and in good faith before, during and after Alexander Bryne was found to be ineligible. We will await their written reasons before commenting further and deciding on the next appropriate steps to take.”
