Joel Sutton missed a penalty against Cleethorpes, but he had the last laugh after sealing Bridlington’s victory

Bridlington Town closed the gap on leaders Cleethorpes Town with a superb 2-0 victory over their title rivals.

Brid could now potentially climb to two points behind Cleethorpes, as along as they win their games-in-hand.

Curtis Woodhouse’s men took an early lead through Nicky McNamara’s deflected free kick.

Brid then won a penalty straight after half-time when Will Waudby was brought down, but Joel Sutton’s attempt was saved.

Sutton did go onto redeem himself as he converted a Waudby cross.

Even the late dismissal of captain Tom Fleming did not prevent Brid hanging on to a priceless victory.

Two goals from Danny Facey helped Albion Sports win 3-1 at resurgent Armthorpe Welfare.

Facey’s early strike was cancelled out by a Liam Radford penalty, but Michael O’Brien and Facey won it for Albion in the second half.

Nick Guest gave Hemsworth Miners Welfare the lead at Worksop Town, where the Wells succumbed to a 5-2 defeat.

Sam Jones scored a penalty in the second half.
