New AFC Emley development team manager Chris Ellerby

Former Nostell Miners Welfare chief Chris Ellerby has made a quick return to football.

Ellerby, whose departure from Nostell was announced tonight, is the new development team manager at AFC Emley.

Ellerby has known Darren Hepworth for many years and the Emley boss is understood to have admired his work at Halifax Irish.

He replaces Roly Lanes who chose to seek pastures new earlier this week.

Emley’s development team play in the East Division of the Lancashire League and his first game in charge will be against Yorkshire Amateur on Monday January 16th.

  1. That is mad why are Emley going for a development manager with no experience, i find it very strange when he gets moved on from Nostel, what credentials as this man got to do such a high profile job with a very good club. This man as got Nostel just about relegated, football is a crazy world, you do a poor job then get another haha glad i sell kitchens for a living

  2. Richard I am sure the footballing world is happy that you sell kitchens for a living after a comment like that.

  3. If anyone had half a brain they’d see the whole situation for what it is.

The lad, whom is only 30, spent 6 years managing in the County Am. He went to a failing side and by the sounds of what people say was on to a loser from the start.

Emley have taken an opportunity to bring in a coach whom is well connected and well known to their club.

All I can say is best of luck to all parties and I’m sure if he values your opinion he’ll get in touch about a kitchen.
