Players wanted as Nostell make changes

The search is on for new players at struggling Nostell Miners Welfare, who have confirmed that manager Chris Ellerby recently left the club.

Ellerby departed last week, a few days after the 4-2 defeat at Eccleshill United. The former Halifax Irish boss was only appointed in October. He inherited a very dire situation, which he was unable to pull them out of them.

Ellerby has told Non League Yorkshire that he resigned, but Nostell chairman Kevin Allsop said: “After one win in 13 league games, the committee decided it was time for a change.

“Unfortunately it is relegation form and that is not something we want.

“I wish Chris all the best for the future.

“We have a new management team in place and they brought in six new players for the weekend’s game against Yorkshire Amateur.

“We have a youthful side which has plenty of quality, but we are desperately looking for experience on the playing side. We have some of the best facilities in the NCEL so if anyone fancies a challenge, we’d be interested to hear from them.”
