Lee Morris believes Frickley Athletic have given themselves a good chance of beating the drop.
Morris inherited a team that was rock-bottom with no points. Now after some recent headline grabbing victories, Frickley are out of the relegation zone.
Morris told Non League Yorkshire: “I’m very happy. When we came in we had zero points from six games.
“If someone had said back then that we would have 23 points and we would be four points clear of the relegation zone, we would have taken that.
“We are in a great position going into the second half of the season.
“We now have a busy January where we have a lot of home games from which we need to take a lot of points from.”
Frickley have a long trip to Spennymoor Town on Boxing Day, nine days on since the abandoned game at Nantwich Town.
A patched-up Frickley side were drawing 0-0 on 55 minutes when fog arrived. Players such as Bailey Gooda, Julian Lawrence, Sam Akeroyd, Luke Mangham, Joe Thornton, plus a couple more were unavailable.
Morris himself had to play at centre-half. That said, Morris was slightly disappointed that the match was abandoned.
“It was a shame because I really believed we could have got something,” he said.
“Ok they had a lot of the ball, but I don’t think they really hurt us. It was a great performance for the 55 minutes, especially considering we had a lot of players missing.
“If we can play like we did with a full strength team then we should be ok.”
