Captain marvel Alex Peterson sent Ossett Town to the summit for the first time with the last minute winner in the dramatic finale against promotion rivals Farsley Celtic.

Peterson, who for the second time in two weeks stole the headlines from perennial hero Danny Frost, gave Ossett an early lead before Farsley hit two quick-fire goals in response.

That’s how it remained until the final ten minutes when Ashley Jackson and Peterson scored.

Ossett had to settle for second place and the joint leaders tag over Christmas due to Lancaster City, but they went into the Farsley clash full of hope of taking top spot outright.

The script was going according to plan when Peterson netted following a scramble. However, Paul Walker struck a magnificent equaliser for Farsley. Jordan Deacey then put them ahead.

Grant Black’s men had to patient. Their patience was rewarded when Jackson scored from a corner.

But the heroics were left to Peterson who got the winner in the third minute of injury-time.
