Thackley captain Paddy McGuire and his side worked really hard to win 2-1 at Clipstone, but they are likely to gain nothing as their opponents resigned from the league on Sunday night

Thackley’s huge effort to win 2-1 at Clipstone could prove to have been in vain after their opponents sensationally resigned from the league on Sunday night.

Thackley’s players will have been stunned like the whole of the NCEL community. No details have been released explaining Clipstone’s resignation.

George Eustance’s late winner got Thackley back to winning ways, but the goal is now likely to be erased from the records. The Bradford-based side are also set to lose three more points as they beat Clipstone at home earlier this season.

Pickering Town, who will lose only one point, thrashed Barton Town Old Boys 5-0 at Marsh Lane.

Billy Logan scored two and he was backed up by Alex Robinson, Nick Thompson and Lewis Taylor.

Albion Sports hit back after a bad result in midweek by beating Rainworth Miners Welfare 4-2. Danny Facey grabbed a hat-trick. Omar Habeeb scored Albion’s other goal.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Parkgate. Nick Guest put the Wells ahead early on, but Joshua Dacre cancelled it out before the half-time mark.
