Clipstone end traumatic week on a high

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division

Clipstone ended a traumatic week with a morale-boosting 2-1 victory at relegation-threatened Parkgate.

Clipstone submitted their resignation to the league last week before a public meeting galvanised interest in the club. Their resignation was later rejected by the league’s management board.

Parkgate took the lead through Kieran Hirst, but Andrew Fox, son of Clipstone manager Billy, immediately levelled up proceedings with a penalty.

Ellis Wall then won it for Clipstone on the hour mark.

Parkgate’s day did not get much better as fellow strugglers Retford United won for the first time under Mark ‘Willy’ Wilson.

Retford won 4-3 at free-falling Rainworth Miners Welfare. Cameron Dear, Brad Kilner, Robert Ludlum and Jake Ashton got the goals. Retford are now only one point behind Parkgate.

Handsworth Parramore drew 3-3 at Staveley Miners Welfare. Aaron Moxam (2) and Jon Froggatt got the goals.
