Late goals send Tadcaster through

Integro League Cup Second Round

Adam Baker scored a brilliant winner against Shaw Lane in the Integro League Cup tie

Tadcaster Albion struck twice in the last ten minutes to come from behind to beat Shaw Lane AFC 2-1 in an action-paced cup tie.

Josh Greening levelled proceedings up before Adam Baker hit a wonder goal to win the contest for Tad.

Dramatic sums up the match. In six first half minutes there were two saved penalties and one goal.

A brilliant save by Tad goalkeeper Chandler Hallwood from Alex Byrne’s spot kick was the first act.

Young forward Jack Tuohy then made amends for his team-mate out by placing Shaw Lane ahead.

Within the next two minutes, Tadcaster won themselves a penalty. But again a goalkeeper came out on top as Mariusz Zanieuwski kept out Greening’s attempt.

So 1-0 is how it remained until the final throes of the night. It took individual brilliance from former Shaw Lane winger Rob Youhill to force the equaliser. The wing wizard’s mesmerising run ended with a tap-in for Greening.

Spurred on, Tad got the winner when Baker unleashed an unstoppable effort from distance.

Tadcaster will visit Scarborough Athletic in the next round.
