Adam Muller and Ross Hardaker earned Ossett Albion another important victory which moves them up to 17th and above Mossley.

Albion created some early pressure and had several chances which they didn’t take. Then in the 7th minute a fierce free-kick by Rob Bordman was parried by Will Jonet in the Mossley goal, and Muller was on hand to head the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net.

Mossley responded well and took the game to Albion, but the home defence stood firm. Five minutes before the interval Jimmy Eyles put the ball past Jonet and was brought down. Jonet was shown the red card. Albion made their advantage pay within a couple of minutes when a ball from the right found Ross Hardaker in the centre and he made no mistake to double the home team’s lead

The second half should have been an easy task for Albion with a two-goal lead and a man advantage but they managed to make hard work of it. Mossley came out full of running and were rewarded in the 65th minute when Tom Pratt finished a good move to reduce the arrears.

Albion were relying on the long ball out of defence and kept giving the ball away rather than keeping possession. It was left to Brett Souter, in the Albion goal, to make several excellent saves in the final minutes to enable them to gain 3 vital points.
