Harrogate Railway player/manager Paul Beesley has set his sights on a top half finish.
Beesley now has his feet firmly under the carpet at Station View as his side are currently enjoying their best form of the campaign.
The Rail have shot up the table after four league wins out of five games and Beesley is really pleased.
“We’re an improving side, Saturday’s win over Armthorpe was our fourth win out of the last five league games,” Beesley told Non League Yorkshire.
“I feel we’re improving in every match. We have good options and the players we have brought in have started to gel.
“I think you have to be realistic in terms of the opposition. All the last six games have been winnable games and we have won most of them
“I think the run is down to a bit of everything, but the signings we have made have definitely strengthened us. I feel we are going in the right direction.
“I wasn’t concerned in December (about the league position). We have always been looking up the table rather than down and we want to get in the top half as soon as possible.
“When I first came in, did I have some concerns? Yes of course I did because we were down near the relegation zone and a bit weak in quality and numbers, but we feel we can look forward now.”
Railway also won in the League Cup on Tuesday night – a 3-1 success over Glasshoughton Welfare.
“I thought we were a bit off it,” Beesley added.
“We were the walking wounded. We had players with knocks and a few feeling ill.
“I don’t think the performance was great, but the result was so we take that. And I said to the players, it is a good sign when you’re winning games and not playing well.”
Railway travel to Staveley Miners Welfare tomorrow.
