Chris Howarth scored a rare hat-trick as Farsley Celtic eventually saw off Goole AFC in the second round tie at Throstle Nest.
Goole threatened to cause an upset with Charlie Shelley’s opener, but Farsley hit back with Lewis Nightingale’s low drive and then an even rarer goal from Ryan Serrant.
Danny Chambers equalised for Goole straight after half-time. That was as good as it got for Goole, whose night was undone by Howarth, who scored the next three goals. The final one came from the penalty spot.
In the third round tie, Tadcaster Albion lost 2-1 at Scarborough Athletic.
Matt Lucid’s late goal won it for Scarborough, who had been pegged back by Josh Greening’s equaliser.
Benny Igiehon had given Scarborough a first half lead.
