Nineteen-year-old Maltby Main Striker Lewis Bemrose is heading to Norway for a trial at third tier side Flint Tonsberg.
The opportunity has come about due to first team coach and head of academy Andy McKnight’s links with numerous teams in Scandinavia.
Manager Spencer Fearn said: “This is great opportunity for Lewis and he is at the right age to be going across to Norway to see what it is like. It is a fantastic country, the clubs are very well run and it’s chance for him to make a living out of the game. He lives the life, trains hard and has the ability to do well. It’s down to him to impress and also see if it is for him.
“We hope that this is the first of many opportunities we can create in Scandinavia through Andy’s links for lads in our first team and also our Academy. Of course we don’t want to lose players, but if we feel they are ready to progress up the ladder, then we will try and help them do that.
Main has a good track record of working with professional clubs through Fearn and McKnight’s contacts. The pair have organised trials at professional clubs in Ireland, Scotland and League One in England last season for players.
Any young players that are currently in Year 11 or Year 12 can register for the Academy by e-mailing ryan@nefa.co.uk or visiting www.nefa.co.uk.
