Shaw Lane AFC enjoyed a great day as they beat title rivals Spalding United 3-1 and then heard the news that fellow challengers Witton Albion had drawn.

The gap between second placed Spalding and leaders Shaw Lane is now six points. It could get even bigger as the Ducks have five games in hand.

Gav Allott’s half-hour strike gave Shaw Lane the lead. Nathan Stainland equalised straight after half-time for Spalding, but Shaw Lane would not be denied.

Allott’s low drive and Gary Burnett’s tap-in secured the victory.

In Division One North, Ossett Town lost 2-1 at Colne. Nathan Curtis scored a last minute consolation for Ossett.

Adam Baker gave Brighouse Town the lead, but Burscough hit back to secure a 1-1 draw.

James Walshaw’s double and Ryan Watson’s strike earned Farsley Celtic a 3-1 win at Clitheroe.

Scarborough Athletic lost 2-0 at Lancaster City.
