It was ensured a dramatic finish to a tight affair which had seen few chances.
Ash Burbeary’s chip which was saved by Rugby goalkeeper Louis Connor was the highlight of a quiet first half.
David Kolodynski missed a sitter for Rugby in the second half before Ruthven forced the ball after Connor had saved a shot from Harrison Biggins.
