Rimmington to give everyone a chance

Liversedge manager Jonathan Rimmington

Jonathan Rimmington is determined to give all his squad a chance to stake a claim for a place in his Liversedge squad for next season.

The Clayborn chief has been preparing for the summer since the turn of the year as he has recruited heavily.

All the new faces have been young players – including Jack McCarthy, Alfie Raw and Joe Wilkinson and although the eighth-placed side could finish in Liversedge’s highest position since 2008, giving everyone a chance to impress is Rimmington’s main goal for the rest of the campaign.

“I’ve said that if we finish above where we did last year – 14th – that would be an achievement,” Rimmington told Non League Yorkshire.

“I think we will do too. The rest of the season for me is about trialling people, I’ve been doing that since I knew we couldn’t go down.

Huddersfield Town midfielder Alfie Raw made his debut for Liversedge on Saturday in the 2-0 defeat at Garforth Town

“I’m pretty fair and I do rotate my players. That comes from my junior football background.

“If we were third and going for the league, I probably wouldn’t, I’d stick with the same team.

“But we’re in a position where I can give everyone a game and I’m doing that.

“It is good for Liversedge too because young players will think ‘I’d like to sign for Liversedge because young players to get a chance there’. It gives the club a good name.

“I will always do that. And I think we have a good blend at the moment because we have some experienced lads and a lot of good young players.”

‘Sedge visit local rivals Thackley tomorrow. Steve Wales and Vaughan Redford are still suspended.
